Important Advisory Notice: ScanMyEstimate provides automated educational benchmarks based on standardized mechanical labor schedules. We do not provide licensed mechanical diagnosis, engineering inspections, formal insurance adjusting, or legal advice.

1. Nature of Service

ScanMyEstimate is an independent consumer intelligence utility. We compare user-submitted repair estimates against standard published flat-rate book times and regional labor benchmarks. All reports and comparisons are strictly informational and advisory.

2. Individual Vehicle Condition and Variances

Actual automotive repair times can legitimately vary due to preexisting vehicle condition, road salt corrosion, seized bolts, aftermarket modifications, collision damage, or unforeseen mechanical complications discovered upon physical teardown. Our benchmarks reflect standardized industry baselines under typical operating conditions.

3. Non-Affiliation and Neutrality

ScanMyEstimate is completely independent. We are not owned by, affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any automotive repair facility, dealership, parts supplier, or estimating software provider (including Tekmetric, Mitchell 1, ALLDATA, or CCC ONE).

4. California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) Statutory Notice

Under California Business and Professions Code § 9884.9(a) and California Code of Regulations Title 16, § 3353, an automotive repair dealer cannot perform diagnosis or repairs without providing an itemized written estimate and obtaining explicit consumer authorization. No charge shall accrue in excess of the estimated price without prior consent. Our platform assists consumers in understanding these rights but does not represent formal regulatory intervention.

5. Limitation of Liability

ScanMyEstimate and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from repair authorization decisions, negotiation outcomes, or contractual disputes between consumers and third-party repair facilities.

6. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
